Welcome and join us if what follows sounds like you.

Our group of about 12 who have been meeting each Saturday morning from a little before 8:00am MT to about 9:00am MT since 1993. Our practice has been to pick a book from the Bible, read passages to each other and then discuss them in a self lead, facilitated conversational fashion.

There have been pastors as members of the group over the years, as there is one today who act as members using the gifts they’ve been given to deepen our discussions rather than lead them.

The group began in a Missouri Synod Lutheran Church and met on a church campus in Centennial, CO. Like all things, covid affected our ability to meet personally. Plus some members had moved to areas of the country as far away as South Carolina, Southern Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico, not to mention trips and vacations hither and thither. This has lead us to having our meetings on Zoom so all can attend where ever they are.

The character of the group has expanded over time to now include members from Baptist and Catholic Churches. Thus the conversation typically is Biblically based rather than promoting the ideas of a specific church or proselytizing. This leads to active and I believe stimulating discussions as no one holds back in expressing their faith.

We trust we will not be allowed wander from the path of His truth since He’s promised to be with those who gather in His name. And, our Saviour vouchsafed to us all the Counselor saying, “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.”

Over the years the group's read thru all of the Bible’s books from Genesis to Revelation, and some more than once as we are doing now.

Due to the density of content, and number of Biblical scholars we call on to help structure our conversations and keep us on track, we have begun using the asyougosongs.com website to hold what we learn. Adherence to copyright legislation and rule making has been heightened because of this. Even were there no governing rules, showing respect to those authors who have used their gifts and sweat equity to help us in the passionate quest Jesus has given us, we think it good, right and important for us so to do.

There is no requirement that one attend the Saturday Morning sessions to join the group. Since those times together have been the focus from the day we started, one might miss the essences without that.

Please feel free to communicate insights, commentary, pictures, and music you find in your heart to enlighten us as Jesus forms and leads us, the Bride of Christ to be perfect image bearers of our Savior in eternal worship of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Thanks for writing this, Rick - and for continuing to connect us digitally through this wonderful website. The hands of God are surely working through you! Jim

I've been praying over two questions from our group. One from Dave (paraphrasing here), "Do we, in our study of Revelation get so focused on detail, that we don't provide ourselves time to stand back and ask our Lord, 'What do you want us to hear and see of You and Your Kingdom?'" The second is one that Steve has asked repeatedly, "These plagues about which we are about to read, the horsemen, the bowls; are they for the enemies of God or for all of us living on the earth?" I find I've been wrong on both points and most humbly eat the crow.

Dave is right, we have not gone to our knees enough, and I for one have been relying too much on my own initiative rather than listening for and reacting to His call. Larry and others asked that we continue to address the Greek, Aramai…

Hi Rick. To the 1st question. You are actually bringing out my question from a week ago in a deeper way. So, if we are going to step back somewhat from the detailed digging and ask for Holy Spirit guidance, my question once again is, "how do you see potential Holy Spirit guidance manifesting itself? Will the guidance mysterious arrive in one of the members thoughts? Will the guidance come from a miraculous circumstance? Will the Holy Spirit actual speak to all of us during a study? Will the interaction come from a spiritually gifted teacher using scripture to enlighten us? I like when members in the study describe how they feel the Holy Spirit has interacted with them. We are told that Holy Spirit interaction happens all the time and that we need this interaction (without it, we can do nothing). So, we should be able to articulate the interaction I assume. To your second question, I don't recall me asking this question. But I like the question. ~ Steve

As I read Revelation 5 and the Notes (970106), item #2 on page 98 really struck me: "The right hand of God is the hand of judgment and salvation, which are always two-sides of the same saving coin."

Jesus is the only one worthy to open the scroll and be at the right hand of God - the hand of both judgment (lion) and salvation (lamb - sacrificial). And although God is all powerful, His perfect plan was and is to have Jesus (fully man - lamb and fully God - lion) be the only one that could open the scroll.

While there are various 'conjectures' as to what is inside the scroll, the key point of focus is on "WHO" can open the scroll and not "WHAT" is inside the scroll. Jesus is the WHO that provides us the WHAT - salvation comes only through Jesus and His death…

Amen to that Jim. It's pretty easy for me to get down into the weeds and try to understand what our Lord is doing from a reductionist point of view. I appreciate the gift He's given you, providing you the ability to stand back and see the grandeur of His intent, and the time you take ot pass that on to all of us. love from your brother.
