Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” Matthew 28 18:20
Scripture from the NABre Uunder license from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, Inc.
The word "Go" in Matthew 28:19 is translated from the Greek πορεύω; poreuō; Strong's Number: g4198.
Vines Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words states, "This verb is to be distinguished from others signifying 'to go.' It is best rendered, as often as possible, 'to go on one's way.'”
Thus, Jesus first enjoined His Apostles to make disciples and baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit.
By extension, He sends all of us to do the same within the vocation for which He has designed us. If you are a plumber, make disciples as you plumb; a CEO, use those gifts to make disciples; a computer designer, use the gifts He's given you to proclaim His name.
The As You Go Band is a group of activist song writers and Kingdom storytellers motivated by Jesus' word, "πορεύω; poreuō, to go and as we go on our way to follow His command to "make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."
